Deciding What to Pack
As the time passes and the day of the trip nears, I find myself in a panic trying to decide what to pack. When checking the weather in New Orleans, the weather keeps fluctuating. The temperatures range from 30-50 degrees. With such a gap in possible temperatures I feel that I have to be prepared for any type of weather. To do this I have began to pack multiple items that can be layered, so articles and be added or removed depending on the temperature. The issue with this is my suit case is busting at the seams. I have tried to make a list of things I should bring, but I keep feeling like I am missing something so I keep adding to it. Luckily my partner, Dan, got me an AWESOME carry on bag for Christmas. This will come in handy to help carry my over flow.
I am also having a hard time deciding what shoes I should bring with as well. As I add articles of clothing, I am adding pairs of shoes. I keep trying to remind myself that as far as shoes are concerned I need to focus more on comfort than style. This is hard, I am quickly learning that I don't have very many comfortable walking shoes.

I also find myself struggling to get last minute errands ran to prepare for the trip. I was in Atlanta, Ga for Christmas, and I just got home and have less than a week to prepare for this trip. The First day I was home 12/28/2017, I broke my phone. This monopolized an entire day because of the upcoming holiday I don't trust the postal service to deliver my phone in time. So, I drove to Oak Brook to pick up a new phone. I have also ordered a few necessities from amazon, and they have a estimated delivery date of 12/31. Not only is that a Sunday, it is also New Years Eve, So once again, I am not feeling so confident on getting them in time. So, today (12/29) I planned on running to the store and pick up the needed items, but it took me 3 hours to drive to Eureka and back to Bloomington. Spending all that time driving in the snow killed any want to go to the store and deal with more people.
Not only am I trying to get myself prepared for the trip. I am trying to get my house hold in order so it doesn't fall apart while I am gone. My partner, bless him, is extremely smart but isn't very domesticated. I have to make sure he has meals and snacks while I am gone so he doesn't starve. I also have two pets. A chameleon (George) and a dog named Marley. Dan doesn't like to feed George. This means I have to make sure George the Chameleon has plenty of worms and insects to keep him through the week while I am gone. Luckily, Dan LOVES Marley the Dog so he is more than willing to make sure all her needs are met while I am away.
